This is red clay (50/50) with a wax resist pattern and dipped in Blue Spruce glaze. The vase is approximately 10 inches high. The bowl is roughly 10 inches in diameter. This is the first "set" I've made. |

This is an unusual shaped piece for me. When I was throwing it, I felt like the clay wanted to become this shape (odd as that may sound). After it had been bisque fired and was ready for glazing, I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with it the funny shaped thing. I like how it turned out, however. It has an iron oxide pattern with celedon glaze over. The vase is about 12 inches tall. |

This is a rather large porcelain platter (see the tip of a key in the corner). It was the last of a bag of porcelain clay I had and I was tired of throwing with it (porcelain is very soft and I found it frustrating to keep centered and clean). I've had the platter unpainted for months now and I finally decided what to do with it when my neighbors calla lilies bloomed. Unlike most of my pieces, this was low fired to cone 06 with slip (englobe) and low fire glaze hand painted design. |
| This vase is approximately 12 inches high. The blue pattern on the bottom is created using a Night Sky crystal glaze. Crystal glazes have chunks of glass in them that melt randomly when the piece is fired. The grass patter was created by painting wax on the parts where the buff clay remains exposed then dipping the top of the vase in Dark Zakins Green. |

This piece started out as an attempt at a plate, but the sides got a little high--and it became a dish! This tree pattern is one of my favorites to paint because it's very relaxing for me--sort of a controlled randomness. I paint it sometimes when I'm upset or worried, but this time was just because I thought it would look nice on this dish. The pattern is painted with iron oxide on red 50/50 clay and then the whole thing is dipped in Hefners blue-gray glaze. |
